Month: Seven

-- I am now in my third trimester, which is exciting (and a little bit scary) all at the same time. This means that we are in the last stages before she arrives. Kinda crazy to think that in just a few months we will be a party of five.

-- Heartburn has arrived with a vengeance. This is a pregnancy symptom that I know all to well. I had it both times with the Kaylee and Layton so I wasn't surprised when it showed up, but I was a little surprised at how much worse it hit me this time around. I was going through TUMS like candy, and finding little relief. So, I started taking Pepcid (thanks to the recommendation of my facebook friends) and it's actually helping a lot. It doesn't totally go away, but is much better than what I was dealing with before.

-- Speaking of pregnancy symptoms that I'm used to - leg cramps. Holy crap-ola. I have been getting the worst 'charlie horses' in my calves. Usually, it's in the middle of the night when I stretch, but occasionally they will strike during the day and cause me to squeal out in pain. Last weekend, I had one in the car while Lee was driving, and he just looked at me with this stressed expression on his face like 'what the hell is wrong with you?' It was quite comical.

-- As most people know, I have major back issues. This was our main concern when I got pregnant this time, because we were worried that it might cause my issues to flare up again. Fortunately, I have had little back pain (so far - fingers crossed.) Instead, I am dealing with horrible (and I mean excruciating) abdominal muscle pain. I do not remember this from before but my mid-wives say that it is totally normal. It feels like a constant pulling/burning sensation and just gently rubbing my belly can hurt sometimes. I constantly feel bruised, and it's so strange. Has me a little bit worried, wondering what my stomach will look like after she comes out. It just feels like this girl is taking a real toll on my abs, so it should be interesting.

-- New craving. I have kind of backed off from the desserts, and instead have replaced it with the desire to drink welches frozen grape juice, all the time. I was literally pissed the other day when I ran to Safeway to get some and discovered that they don't carry it. I'm holding a grudge. I haven't been back since.

-- We met up with our friend Sarah earlier this month and had some maternity pictures taken. It was fun. I fought myself on even having any taken because lets face it - I'm not really big on pictures of myself, but I did it, and I know I will look back in a couple of years and be glad I did. My friend Bree (and photog as well) wants to take some of me too in a few weeks, so I'm thinking I may... I just need to suck it up and do it. These will be memories that I will be happy to have to look back on.

-- Last week, I had my glucose test done. (Ugh, I always dread this one.) It's where they make you drink this super sweet, flat tasting, soda type drink and then draw your blood an hour later to test your sugar. Well, normally, piece of cake. I always have tested fine. Not this time. I had higher levels. So, this means that tomorrow I get to go in for the three hour test. I'm so irritated. I know I don't have it, so it totally drives me crazy to know that I have to fast tonight, and then go almost 16 hours without food. I'm not a happy camper.

-- Weight gain is going good. At my last appointment I was up 5 lbs. The doc said that it's perfect and from now until delivery she would like me to gain about a pound a week. I laughed, because I know that in those last few weeks? I tend to pack on a ton.

-- Oh and last, but not least - Our 3D/4D ultrasound is in just 5 days! I can hardly wait to get a glimpse of what this little girl of ours is gonna look like.
